I’m practically bursting at the seams to share my next pattern with you—but it’s not quite time yet! If you’ve never written a pattern before, gone through tech editing, testing, making samples, and prepping kits, you might not realize just how much work goes into every single detail. That’s why designers don’t release new patterns every month—it takes time to get it *just right*.

🎥 Here’s a little behind-the-scenes moment: One of my dedicated testers found an issue that I really didn’t want to take the time to fix. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but it *could* have caused some confusion at the end when extra fabric labels were left unused. I debated, asked for advice from trusted industry friends, and in the end, my husband summed it up perfectly:

*”There’s no way you’d be able to sleep at night knowing you could have made the pattern better before releasing it. Remember what you used to tell our son when he was little? — Do it right or do it twice, your choice.”*

And he was *right.* So I took the extra time to “do it twice” and made the fix. I can’t wait for you to see the finished product and I’m extra excited knowing I’ve given it my all to give you my very best work! Sometimes, doing things the right way means slowing down—but it’s always worth it. You’re worth it to me. 🩷🧡💛

✨Adventuring ✨ is my most favorite thing to do with my husband. This adventure took us to the panhandle of Texas and we watched a gorgeous sunset from atop rolling hills. Then we stargazed at what looked like 100,000 stars and planets in a pitch black night sky. The moon took its time showing itself tonight and it was worth the wait with its moody red beginnings as it peeked over the horizon.

These little adventures mean so much to us. We get to turn down whichever road we want to and have zero responsibilities for 24 to 48 hours. We live for these tiny breaks from the demands of life! I’m just so happy to be here. So happy ☺️

It was an easy decision when choosing my “road trip quilt” because my Sweater Weather Sampler quilt has been my favorite make for 8 months now. I just love her and all that she stands for. #9pqc 🫶🏼 She and I have a standing coffee date each morning, and on the rare instances we have the TV on she’s always in my lap ready to “catch a cat” to add to our snuggles.

I once worked on a project with someone who saw things completely differently than I did. I focused on the details, while he had a big-picture mindset. At first, we struggled to understand each other, but we quickly realized that we *needed* both perspectives to succeed. In the end, we really enjoyed working together!

Quilting works the same way. Before starting a quilt, it’s important to consider the overall time commitment, block complexity, and skill level. But the details matter just as much—fabric print sizes, color saturation, and the details required when piecing it all together.

Not every quilt has to be a masterpiece, but I’ve learned that when I take time to analyze the details upfront I’m much happier with the final result.

🤩 Master Machine Binding Like a Pro!

Welcome to Part 3 of my machine binding tutorial! The secret to a clean, professional finish comes down to a few key techniques:

✅ [Press with purpose] check out Part 2 for details
✅ [Use a stitch-in-the-ditch foot] for precision
✅ [Work in small 5–6” sections] for better control
✅ [Use both hands] to tuck threads, hold the binding, and adjust the quilt as you sew
✅ [Try a knee lift] if your machine doesn’t have an automatic foot lift

I bind anywhere from 4 to 9 quilts a month and rarely have to go back and fix spots that didn’t catch. While no method is 100% foolproof, this one is pretty solid!

Today is the first day of Winter! ❄️ Texas upped its Fall color game right before Autumn ended yesterday. 👏 Running errands the past two weeks has revealed a gorgeous scenery right around McKinney!

One morning this week I happened to look outside and was overjoyed to see the lighting was *just right* for some Sweater Weather Sampler pictures! It was a balmy 31 degrees and my Texas wardrobe wasn’t sufficient for a long shoot 😂 but I digress. I didn’t have any photos of my completed quilt (despite it being finished for months now 🤦🏽‍♀️) so I was thrilled to get some shots!

I have this strange habit of saying each quilt is my favorite as I’m making them but this one might *actually* be my favorite. It signifies so many things for me.

✅ Friendship with the Nine Patch Quilt Collective

✅ Falling in love with a color palette that feels like me and finding confidence through color

✅ Pushing through a hard season and leaning into relying on others for help (I’m looking at you @quilt_scouts @jskaehillius @willyskae @jenn_run2.30 and the mcbillion people who gave me rides for months until I could drive again)

✅ A season of growth. This quilt symbolizes so much growth in me physically, emotionally, and professionally.

✅ Community! This year y’all were incredibly kind and helpful to each other in the Facebook group. What a joy it was to have a seat at that table and watch y’all love on each other, encourage, guide, teach, and giggle together. 🥹

2024 was another busy year. Despite having major repairs done to my shoulder and being out for almost 4 months, I still managed to start and complete over 60 quilts. I have an incredible team over here!

Jennifer is my interfacing prep superhero, Sarah is my current long arm quilter, and my husband & son are my quilt holders. On the fabric shop side of my business, my son is my quilt kit cutter & folder. On the design side of my business, Rachel is my pattern tech editor and I have an INCREDIBLE pool of pattern testers. I couldn’t do this business without any of them!

This year my niece swooped in and helped me clean out my entire office & closet to make them work in tandem with the functions of my business. I love walking into my office and just basking in the organization. Ahhhhhh!!!

I’m gearing up for a busy 2025 with 41 customer quilts and 3 pattern releases already on the schedule.

But first, I’m just going to sit here in my clean office and count my blessings. What a gift it is to be able to create things for others and for my family. Such a gift!

A huge thank you to my customers who trust me to make quilts with their irreplaceable clothing items. Your continued trust in me means more than I can properly convey. ♥️🫎🧵

Four years ago my husband just about begged me to make him a quilt with traditional Fall colors. Autumn is his most favorite season. He willingly and eagerly pulls out the Fall decorations each year the moment it’s socially acceptable, even if it’s still 100+ degrees in Texas.

This is still his favorite quilt four years later. He loves every color because they remind him of the bold and bright Fall colors of his best childhood years in Pennsylvania. The rich oranges, yellows and reds of the northeast look like they fell right out of a crayola box. The boldness of this quilt takes him right back to his adventures in the woods behind his house while the leaves were ablaze with saturated colors. He can smell the leaves and hear the crunch of the leaves beneath his feet when he tells me stories. He once had an encounter with a bear on one of his adventures. 😳 Deer and squirrels would even approach him as he sat with perfect stillness (a skill he still has today). Animals loved him then and they still love him now.

It makes my heart happy to see him snuggled under it even while the a/c blasts cold air in October and November. We just now have Fall colors in the Dallas area and they are gorgeous! It makes me want to sit outside the entire day and soak in the beauty.

There’s no pattern nor fabric requirements for this quilt. I didn’t even have a plan when I got started. I just found a basic block I thought he would like and repeated it over and over in an array of colors he loves.

Sometimes it’s best not to overcomplicate a process and simply sew from the heart for someone you love. And I do love him so. 🍁

The boldness of this quilt takes him right back to his adventures in the woods behind his house while the leaves were ablaze with saturated colors. He can smell the leaves and hear the crunch of the leaves beneath his feet when he tells me stories. He once had an encounter with a bear on one of his adventures. 😳 Deer and squirrels would even approach him as he sat with perfect stillness (a skill he still has today). Animals loved him then and they still love him now.

It makes my heart happy to see him snuggled under it even while the a/c blasts cold air in October and November. We just now have Fall colors in the Dallas area and they are gorgeous! It makes me want to sit outside the entire day and soak in the beauty.

There’s no pattern nor fabric requirements for this quilt. I didn’t even have a plan when I got started. I just found a basic block I thought he would like and repeated it over and over in an array of colors he loves.

Sometimes it’s best not to overcomplicate a process and simply sew from the heart for someone you love. And I do love him so. 🍁

Real talk. Life is busy. It’s busy for me, and for you and for him and for her and for EVERYONE. I have never ever been this behind in my work as I have been this Fall and it’s been quite taxing emotionally and physically.

This little corner has become my sanity corner. I keep a basket of “quiet time” things next to my favorite chair. I have a coloring Bible, colored pencils, awesome felt tip markers/pens, charging cables, a blanket my mom crocheted for me, and ALWAYS a quilt. Always. Let us not forget a nice warm beverage for the cherry on top!

The window sill is multi-faceted. Sometimes it’s where I put my feet, sometimes it holds my coffee or a small snack, and sometimes it’s where I set my phone so I can just be still and watch the birds in the feeders. (And sometimes a cat steals my entire view because she things all things are for her … including the best birdwatching spots!)

I’m not the best at taking time to be still but there is MUCH restoration available for the taking when I do take the time to stop and breathe. My quilts bring me joy and I like to look over the little details while I sit in stillness… the binding, my fabric choices, details in the hand embroidered labels, and all the memories that go with the time of year when I made each quilt.

I know December can be a.lot.for.everyone. but I hope and pray that you have a sanity corner where you can go to breathe, focus on gratitude and restore your joy.

It used to bother me that Thanksgiving and Christmas overlap a smidge but now I’m here for it. We even put our tree up early and it’s been so lovely to have coffee by the tree in the mornings. The Juniper line by @sharonhollanddesigns is the perfect crossover fabric collection from Fall to Winter and I’m smitten with her entire collection. 🙌🏼

These Star of Wonder blocks were pieced by @abbymaed using @artgalleryfabrics last year and they are just gorgeous! I’m aching to make my own version with Sharon’s fabrics and I have kits available online so you can make one too!

In Texas we don’t typically get “winter” until January/February and it’s fleeting. I admit this year I wish we had just a bit more chilliness in the air. Do you have distinct Fall and Winter seasons where you live?
