Yesterday I sat down in my favorite chair and grabbed for this lap sized quilt. It was the PERFECT size to cover me from my chest to the tops of my feet! (Not to mention the extra snuggly factor with the AGF Highlands flannel on the back.)

I couldn’t help but remember my mother in-law in that moment. She got so frail the older she got and she would always complain about how cold she was but blankets and quilts were a tripping hazard near her recliner so she sometimes didn’t use them at all. “I would rather be cold than have a broken hip, Annie girl!” (Then she would turn her heat to 84 🤣)

Oh Janey, I wish I had today’s talent back in 2015. We could have solved one of your biggest frustrations 💜💙🩵

🐇 Can you spot the bunny?

This fabric collection by Maureen Cracknell is just stunning. It has a little bit of cutie patootie, a whole lot of color, and a softness to it that makes it perfect for a Hearty quilt. (And I have FQ Bundles in my shop!)

When I wrote this pattern, I wanted it to be a fun, playful way to use directional fabrics. Sometimes patterns use such tiny pieces that we lose some of the beautiful artwork on the fabric. FUN FACT: I actually changed the construction of these blocks after I made my initial mock ups because I wanted even *more* of the directional prints to show!

💜 Split Decision | Hearty includes 4 project sizes: table runner, lap, throw and bed.

💙The runner and lap use Fat Quarters - and - you can use Fat quarters in the larger quilts for a scrappy quilt. (To see a delightfully scrappy version, check out @itoldyousew)

Where are the die hard Ruby Star Society fans? My good friend Jenn falls into this category and seeing her affinity with RSS fabrics has encouraged me to think differently when I write patterns. I used Ruby Star Society Trinketry fabric for this yardage version of Hearty, but this pattern makes it easy to use ANY Ruby Star fabrics!

This Hearty quilt was really fun to make from yardage, but it’s also really fun to make from your scrap fabrics! It puts a whole new twist on an iSpy quilt!

I have included a couple charts in this pattern that will help you figure out exactly how many scraps you need to make GREAT use of your favorite scraps. And of course, Jen has already made a scrappy version… Because that’s just who she is! I can’t wait for you to see what @itoldyousew has been up to!

This size is fat quarter friendly, and you only need 10 fat quarters plus a background fabric to make a cheerful 46 x 57 inch quilt. It’s a great size for a baby quilt, a wall hanging, or the perfect quilt to tuck around your legs while you cozy up with a good book.

This version uses fabrics from the Starling collection by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics, plus 1 Decostitch print and Ethereal Pink for the background.

It’s not too difficult to pull together beautifully paired fabrics for this quilt, but I’m curious what you think. Would it be helpful if I offered quilt kits for this version so the color coordinating is already done for you?

I have not been participating in #igquiltfest2026 but I did see that today’s prompt is about the “why” behind quilting. My “why” is all about the heart.

I started a business 15 years ago to help my family financially. My heart was to serve my family while serving others. And over the years, it became very clear that the work I was doing was touching other people‘s hearts in ways I couldn’t have imagined or orchestrated. God has stepped in and taken the reins more times than I can count and every time the blessings overflow in ways that are hard to articulate.

As the years go by, life changes. You enter new stages and leave other stages behind. Our son turns 23 tomorrow and he doesn’t need us like he used to. I don’t have to sign things, drive him places, check on things, etc. He’s becoming a solid adult! Looking ahead it’s just me and my guy in this together and I find myself back to my original “why.” My business is going to help my husband retire and if all goes as planned, we will get to work together for the first time since we met 29 years ago!

It’s OK if your “why” changes and ebbs and flows over the years. Life never stays constant. Change is always happening. But gosh what a blessing to know that HE has been my constant. Yesterday, today, and forever … I love him.

Just today my husband encouraged me to keep making t-shirt quilts as long as I physically can. He has seen the tears, heard the stories, and experienced the excitement about future endeavors when my customers pour their hearts out about their shirts, memories, and plans after high school. 📣 Shout out to all the spouses, kids, neighbors, significant others and complete strangers who help you get your quilt pictures.

It’s not a fun task or easy task when it’s zero degrees or 108 degrees. Or when it’s windy or when someone sweaty, tired, or cranky.

But my beloved is *all in* to help me with my business goals … even if he has a few choice words about the quilt photography process. 🤣 I’ve tried to explain that I’m not the only one who is picky about the lighting, the angles, if the quilt is straight and taught, if there is a random object in the background, if shoes are showing …. But I’m going to need your comments below to reassure him that I’m not the only one!

🩷🧡💛 If you’re needing a simple quilt for all of those cutie scraps you refuse to give away, Linden’s Joy is your girl! She’s flirty, she radiates your love of scraps, and she’s not hard to make! She also happens to be one of my best selling patterns because she loves to steal the show 🤩

It took me a couple of months but I finally finished my 2025 Sweater Weather quilt! The patterns were so good for the third year in a row and I loved making each block ❤️

I ended up adding multiple borders so that the 9 beautiful blocks would rest perfectly centered on our queen size bed. And gosh these colors still make me swoon! I have loved them since I first put them together back in May!!!

But we must must must discuss this longarm quilting. @itoldyousew completely outdid herself by working to size this Braided Loose panto PERFECTLY for my quilt. Oh. My. Word. I love it SO MUCH! The texture is deliciously cozy and extra snuggly.

So if your tummy isn’t hungry, your water is clean, you have clothes to wear, and you woke up in a safe place today … count it all blessings!

While quilts, quilting, fabrics and patterns are not basic needs, we can *also* be thankful for all of those things. And I am!

Gosh I’m thankful for YOU too! You bring joy into my life regularly, dear quilty friends.
