This beautiful lady, Amarylis, is unbelievably talented with a paintbrush. Her artwork is phenomenal and I’ve had the pleasure of using her work in my designs three times now 🥹 She’s a dream to work with, she’s humble, hilarious, and makes the coolest outfits from her fabrics.

✨ Have you heard the hilarious story about our attempt to go stargazing while on a hiking trip? It’s quite comical and you can read the whole story inside my Oh Ryan pattern! 🤣

🔥 But let’s get back to Fireglow! The fiery orange fabric in the Fireglow collection by Sarah Watts, burns through this quilt pattern in the best of ways! It reminds me of a dragon releasing a fireball into the air on a dark, cool night (you know, a dark night that would be perfect for stargazing! 🙄)

The Oh Ryan pattern has three different sizes; lap, throw, and bed. You can create a quilt with a cohesive look from yardage as shown in this mock up and on the cover of the pattern, or you can choose to make it completely scrappy or even semi scrappy as some of my pattern testers have done.

The very first time I had the honor of working with Moda to create mock ups for their fabric catalogs, I made a really big assumption! I assumed that any mock up that was accepted would result in a request for a sample quilt with said fabrics.

So by the time I got down the list to this absolutely darling collection called Fable and Fern, I opted to mock up the lap size Stargrove quilt instead of the throw or bed size just in case I had to squeeze in sample making time.

After my designs were accepted for Moda Sell Sheets (and after I bawled my eyes out because I was so touched to have been chosen), it was only then that I asked when they needed the samples. 🤣

They were so gracious and so kind to help me understand the whole process, and it turns out I did not have to make a single sample for this particular catalog. But you know what? I wish I could’ve made a sample with these fabrics!

This watercolor art by Jess of @watercolour_heart_illustration is absolutely gorgeous! I only included a handful of her magical work in this post, and you should definitely ask your local quilt shop to order the entire collection right now before it’s too late! My goodness I can’t believe she hand painted all of this. It’s incredible artwork.

⛔️DANGER AHEAD: Which lie do you tell yourself?

She must be really good at this.
She must know all the right people.
Her designs must be better than mine.
She has so much more energy than I do.
Her family is more supportive than mine.
She has more money than I do.
She’s prettier than I am.
She’s skinnier than I am.
She dresses better than I do.
Her hair is better than mine.
Her marketing skills are better than mine.
She can afford to hire a team.
This just comes easier to her.

I’ve told myself ALL of those lies at some point in the past. This world we live in with social media means that almost everything you see is curated, beautified, polished, and absolutely spectacular! But it’s dangerous to think someone’s social media life is their only life.

Since I’ve returned from H+H I’ve been forced to rest because my brain got overstimulated. Overstimulation leads to speech and balance problems that I have had since I was hospitalized with Covid in 2021. It’s just part of my story and something I have to make space for and work around.

Even though it’s part of my story, it’s not WHO I AM … and all the lies you’ve been telling yourself are not WHO YOU ARE either.

Focus on your own lane.

Focus on your boundaries.
Focus on what you CAN do.

We did the medications, injections, procedures, etc and in July of 2002 I found out it had all finally worked! And then shortly after he was born, I had run out of medical intervention options and opted for a full hysterectomy to end the years of suffering I had endured. The boy is a true gift in more ways than one!

My boy, how I prayed for you then and still pray for you even now. I’d love to say I’ve never taken a single day for granted but I am human after all. I admit there were periods of time when I wished it would just go faster - and now here we are on the brink of you flying the coop and making your own life. Gosh it all went by so fast, but this is what we’ve trained for!!!

Just don’t forget to text me a thousand pictures, call me for late night chats, and show up on my doorstep when time permits 🩷🧡💛

Thanks for making Mother’s Day, and every day, so dang meaningful.

The Daisy Mae kits use mostly print fabrics and they are adorable together! The pink + yellow combo makes me think of the perfect summer day and the green + blue combo makes me think of bluebonnets in Texas during Springtime.

No matter if you love soft and subtle colors or bold and bright, you really can’t go wrong with Butterfly Bouquet kits. @abbymaed has outdone herself with this incredible design!
