She must be really good at this.
She must know all the right people.
Her designs must be better than mine.
She has so much more energy than I do.
Her family is more supportive than mine.
She has more money than I do.
She’s prettier than I am.
She’s skinnier than I am.
She dresses better than I do.
Her hair is better than mine.
Her marketing skills are better than mine.
She can afford to hire a team.
This just comes easier to her.

I’ve told myself ALL of those lies at some point in the past. This world we live in with social media means that almost everything you see is curated, beautified, polished, and absolutely spectacular! But it’s dangerous to think someone’s social media life is their only life.

Since I’ve returned from H+H I’ve been forced to rest because my brain got overstimulated. Overstimulation leads to speech and balance problems that I have had since I was hospitalized with Covid in 2021. It’s just part of my story and something I have to make space for and work around.

Even though it’s part of my story, it’s not WHO I AM … and all the lies you’ve been telling yourself are not WHO YOU ARE either.

Focus on your own lane.
Focus on your own growth.
Focus on your boundaries.
Focus on what you CAN do.

Gosh it all went by so fast, but this is what we’ve trained for!!!

Just don’t forget to text me a thousand pictures, call me for late night chats, and show up on my doorstep when time permits 🩷🧡💛

Y’all are selecting GORGEOUS kits and it’s been a joy to cut and craft them together for you!

The Daisy Mae kits use mostly print fabrics and they are adorable together! The pink + yellow combo makes me think of the perfect summer day and the green + blue combo makes me think of bluebonnets in Texas during Springtime.

No matter if you love soft and subtle colors or bold and bright, you really can’t go wrong with Butterfly Bouquet kits. @abbymaed has outdone herself with this incredible design!

I did some math so you don’t have to and gave you the option of adding border fabric to your kit to make it bed sized. The gorgeous butterfly will be centered perfectly on your bed.

Even though the pattern is written for a generous throw size, I’ve included instructions on the kit card insert for cutting and adding the borders. Ta da!!! I know how much y’all love to make bed sized quilts, and your requests for more bed sized kits were received loud and clear. 🫶🏼

Abby’s pattern is skillfully and beautifully written. You won’t be disappointed as you work through this one, quilt besties!

A scrappy Ruby Star quilt? Yes please!

When Jenn asked if I would consider adding a scrappy option to my Split Decision Hearty pattern, I knew I had to say YES! If you know Jenn even for 5 minutes, you’ll quickly come to realize she’s the queen of scrappy quilts. I knew her test version would be tremendously cool - and I wasn’t wrong!

Teamwork is GLUE in a small business. Some might look at Crafty Moose Quilts from the outside and think “how does she do all of that?” But the truth is I have an incredible team.

My husband and son patiently (most of the time) hold quilts up while quilts whip and nay nay in the Texas wind until I get shots that I feel confident my customers will love. When I have a new pattern coming out I’m SUPER PICKY (and probably annoying) about the shots we get so listen, I’m not Snow White *all* the time. I have some “The Devil Wears Prada” in me.

Sarah does all my tech editing AND she tests for me AND she makes sample quilts for me. She’s also my “hey, am I in the wrong here???” friend who never judges when I need to work out hard situations. She’s my industry fence post and she holds me up when it gets crazy!

Jennifer is the sweetest, kindest, most heartfelt woman I know and she yearns to serve and work hard to meet my standards. She is sunlight in a world of gray 365 days a year. She does allllllllllllll the interfacing on my t-shirt quilts. Y’all … ALL! (That’s a lot!)

Jenn has been my right hand quilter the past several months. She’s been piecing t-shirt quilts, sample quilts, look book quilts, AND she has been doing long arm quilting for me with the overflow of work since last October.

Allison is new to the team! She’s my new VA and we have LOTS of tasks lined up. Allison has the attention to detail with words that I have with binding! I love her already … because if you’ve ever gotten messages from me 😂 you know spell check isn’t a priority.

Michelle quilted what feels like close to 75-100 quilts for me over the past year. Her attention to detail with stitch length, tension, thread color and squaring up is spectacular!

I also have text groups that help me pick my quilt kits, pattern testers who go WAY above and beyond to ensure my patterns are solid, and a sister who gives me her entire day off work to help me attempt to launch new things.

My team > working alone. 🫶🏼

Yesterday I sat down in my favorite chair and grabbed for this lap sized quilt. It was the PERFECT size to cover me from my chest to the tops of my feet! (Not to mention the extra snuggly factor with the AGF Highlands flannel on the back.)

I couldn’t help but remember my mother in-law in that moment. She got so frail the older she got and she would always complain about how cold she was but blankets and quilts were a tripping hazard near her recliner so she sometimes didn’t use them at all. “I would rather be cold than have a broken hip, Annie girl!” (Then she would turn her heat to 84 🤣)

Oh Janey, I wish I had today’s talent back in 2015. We could have solved one of your biggest frustrations 💜💙🩵

🐇 Can you spot the bunny?

This fabric collection by Maureen Cracknell is just stunning. It has a little bit of cutie patootie, a whole lot of color, and a softness to it that makes it perfect for a Hearty quilt. (And I have FQ Bundles in my shop!)

When I wrote this pattern, I wanted it to be a fun, playful way to use directional fabrics. Sometimes patterns use such tiny pieces that we lose some of the beautiful artwork on the fabric. FUN FACT: I actually changed the construction of these blocks after I made my initial mock ups because I wanted even *more* of the directional prints to show!

💜 Split Decision | Hearty includes 4 project sizes: table runner, lap, throw and bed.

💙The runner and lap use Fat Quarters - and - you can use Fat quarters in the larger quilts for a scrappy quilt. (To see a delightfully scrappy version, check out @itoldyousew)

Where are the die hard Ruby Star Society fans? My good friend Jenn falls into this category and seeing her affinity with RSS fabrics has encouraged me to think differently when I write patterns. I used Ruby Star Society Trinketry fabric for this yardage version of Hearty, but this pattern makes it easy to use ANY Ruby Star fabrics!

This Hearty quilt was really fun to make from yardage, but it’s also really fun to make from your scrap fabrics! It puts a whole new twist on an iSpy quilt!

I have included a couple charts in this pattern that will help you figure out exactly how many scraps you need to make GREAT use of your favorite scraps. And of course, Jen has already made a scrappy version… Because that’s just who she is! I can’t wait for you to see what @itoldyousew has been up to!

This size is fat quarter friendly, and you only need 10 fat quarters plus a background fabric to make a cheerful 46 x 57 inch quilt. It’s a great size for a baby quilt, a wall hanging, or the perfect quilt to tuck around your legs while you cozy up with a good book.

This version uses fabrics from the Starling collection by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics, plus 1 Decostitch print and Ethereal Pink for the background.

It’s not too difficult to pull together beautifully paired fabrics for this quilt, but I’m curious what you think. Would it be helpful if I offered quilt kits for this version so the color coordinating is already done for you?

I have not been participating in #igquiltfest2026 but I did see that today’s prompt is about the “why” behind quilting. My “why” is all about the heart.

I started a business 15 years ago to help my family financially. My heart was to serve my family while serving others. And over the years, it became very clear that the work I was doing was touching other people‘s hearts in ways I couldn’t have imagined or orchestrated. God has stepped in and taken the reins more times than I can count and every time the blessings overflow in ways that are hard to articulate.

As the years go by, life changes. You enter new stages and leave other stages behind. Our son turns 23 tomorrow and he doesn’t need us like he used to. I don’t have to sign things, drive him places, check on things, etc. He’s becoming a solid adult! Looking ahead it’s just me and my guy in this together and I find myself back to my original “why.” My business is going to help my husband retire and if all goes as planned, we will get to work together for the first time since we met 29 years ago!

It’s OK if your “why” changes and ebbs and flows over the years. Life never stays constant. Change is always happening. But gosh what a blessing to know that HE has been my constant. Yesterday, today, and forever … I love him.
